After a fun three days exploring Madrid, Spain, it was time to get on another airplane for a two-hour flight to Brussels, Belgium. Here we had about a two-day layover before heading on to the UK.

Around 8:30am we landed at Brussels Charleroi, one of two airports servicing the Belgian capital area. With our extra time, we decided rather than exploring Brussels, to hop on a bus for a 1.5 hour journey across the border to Lille, France.

Lille is a city of about 230,000 in the area of France called French Flanders. It has cobblestone streets, old buildings and a big square and is a quaint substitute if one is looking for a medium-size city with things to do, yet not quite as busy as Paris (which is just two hours away).

We had a day and a half to wander around this French town but did not have anything planned or that we wanted to do. So we did just that, wandered.

There were lots of cobblestone streets to walk down and plenty of avenues filled with pedestrians and stores. We had ice cream, slushees and other French sweets.

For lunch and dinner we ate a delicious French pizza and some French tacos with meat and French fries inside.

Before long it was time to head on a train back to Brussels where we would stay one more night and then take an early morning flight to the UK.

Soon enough, I would finally be in LONDON.

Until next time,
